seasons // time

{via pinterest}
this is a morning for musings.

a morning for acoustic guitars and indie lyrics that soothe the soul with a caress.

i feel like i'm sinking more and more into Ecclesiastes

there is a time...a time...

what is this time?

i know this is the time for new beginnings. the time where earth must die for newness to be born.

autumn is the fade. winter is the rest.

unless a seed falls into the ground and dies, it cannot bear much fruit.

i think we forget that. we focus on the brightness and rejoice. but when the fade comes, prelude to the rest, we groan.

but there is beauty in the fade. beauty in the rest.

the sun is not going away. it never leaves us. it just takes a moment to slip behind the clouds. the light does not go out, it merely changes for a time.

only for a time.

do we forget this passing of time? winter is not forever.

it is not a White Witch curse.

it comes and goes.
it has a time.

this is why i cannot curse or begrudge any season. each one is a cloak of beauty for this earth in which we dwell, a sign of Love's fingers.

He died for life.

a step from Throne to earth. a Life given for life to be made new. there is a time for everything.

He did not stay below the earth. He rose. He returned. He lives still.

this glorious conundrum that is my Jesus.

this season is passing.

this time of autumn is caressing, this time of winter is swift aproaching.

curse not.
only love.

there is a time for everything...

joy

five minute fridays. we write for five, and only five, minutes. no editing, no overthinking, no backtracking. linking up with the gypsy mama.

the word
JOY

now GO...

both are precious. both are joy.

they resonate with beautifulness and mercy and so much joy.

even in so much darkness or pain.

because this song is slow and rich, not the bubbly melody that we once leapt about to and sang in rapid-speed as children.

but it is still joy.

because this post is written by a woman of all inspiration and glory. this dear one, beloved beyond this and that and all

currently making her graceful way Home. my heart is breaking at our loss, but rejoicing at her gain.

even in the tears

it is still joy.

she is going home to Joy. her Joy, her Love, and her Lord.

what greater joy is this.

i think it comes from this place of realizing that joy is the bird that sings just before sunrise. still so dark, but this bird knows.

it knows what comes in time. it knows the Light.

and Sara is that bird. this bird of joy flutters at her windowsill. and as it takes flight, Heaven-bound, it sings a glorious refrain.

death is swallowed up in Victory. oh death, where is your sting? oh grave, where is your triumph.

Sara is flying home

on His wings of perfect joy.

{dedicated with all the love in the world to Sara Frankl. her steps to joy have led me forward, along with so many others. she loved fast and deep and rich and hard. she loved her King. bless you as you take this path Home, sweet one. your King awaits you with a kiss for your cheek.}

Graduate

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

My little sister's High School graduation was on Saturday.

It was a day of emotion, family, and the passing of the baton from one generation to another...watching the graduation of my baby sister flooded me with pride.

As I watched her and a small cluster of my younger friends walk across the stage and receive their diplomas from their fathers, it was quite the flashback of my own graduation two years ago.

I remember standing against the wall with my closest friends as we prepared for the processional, slowly realizing that my life was about to change forever.

I remember the commencement speech and the mountains of advice given that day from teachers, parents, family, and friends to the class of 2009.

I remember giving my speech, fidgeting with my tassel, crying as I hugged my dad while my diploma passed from his hands to mine.

I remember smiling for endless photos and laughing through my tears as I shared final moments with the people who had shaped my life for the past five years.

But above all else, I remember being gripped by a combination of terror and passionate excitement.

It was the first day of my future, and I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. At that moment, all my dreams seemed so huge...so wonderfully wide and frightening massive.

So this is my word to you -- to HHSW's Class of 2011...to every graduate who has turned their tassel this year...

Be.

Be a man of God. Be a woman of grace.

Be a radical changer of the world.

Be strong and of courage, for the Lord is with you.

Be mighty men and women of valor and love.

Be dreamers. Be faithful. Be passionate.

Be yourself.

But above all,

Be His.

Congratulations Class of 2011.

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. ~e.e. cummings
