Capturé L'amour

Photograph: a picture painted by the sun without instruction in art. ~Ambrose Bierce

My life is filled with photographers.

So many people close to me...people that I love more than anything...find their truest love captured in the moments between each shutter-click.

My gorgeous and talented little sister at PinkStudios Photography...

...the beautiful Jocee at Cupcake Dictionary and her beautiful camera-naming giveaway...

...as well as the countless other wonderful and incredible ones whom I love that also dwell behind a lens of their own.

I will admit that photography is not my love and passion. Aside from my tiny and ancient Fujifilm FinePix F40 digital...as well as my penchant for continuously "borrowing" my father's Fujifilm S1000...

...the only camera that I adore is the delicate silver one that currently hangs around my neck.

But even still, photographs still inspire me.

Just looking over my friends' work and collections is enough to send my writer's mind into a spiral of inspiration...

...macros that bring to mind the love of the little things and details of life...

...mouth-watering images of delightful treats that bring the sweetness of my days to the forefront...

...the barest twinkle of background "bokeh" to make my heart do the faintest of flips and conjure up mental pictures of innocent beauties.

Perhaps the word to best describe me would be "delightful"...as in, the smallest things of life call forth squeals of delight and little-girl smiles across my face...

...am I too easy to delight?

Perhaps.

But what better way to spend a summer's day that to watch a companion capture moments in the black box his calls "friend", or to balance a reflector for an hour in the blazing sun to see incredible images come forth from my sister's camera?

There is none, I think.

And now to the naming.

Am I foolish to find pleasure in giving beautiful names to simple electronics or instruments?

Even if I am, here is my list for you to ponder:

a) Clickita (or Cliquita)
b) Mosley
c) Petit Chou
d) Camara (Spanish for "camera")
e) C.D. (stands for "Camera Darling"...or even "Cupcake Dictionary"!)
f) Glenstorm (the name of my favorite Narnia centaur)

And so there is my list.

Laugh at me if you wish.

But for something that captures so much love...

...I am willing to be counted as foolish.

A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. ~Ansel Adams

I look at you and see all the ways a soul can bruise, and I wish I could sink my hands into your flesh and light lanterns along your spine so you know there's nothing but light when I see you. :: Shinji Moon
