Gryffindor

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart.
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart. ~The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Seven days left.

July 15th, 2011

12:15am, CST.

The world ends and begins.

The boy who lived will finish his journey.

And I am going to lose my mind...

...or, at the very least, do a rather copious amount of crying.

To be honest, that day is going to be a whirlwind of emotions for this Gryffindor.

We've been with Harry since the very beginning.

We've seen cupboards under the stairs turn into pokey upper bedrooms...

...we've ridden the hippogriff, soared with the Hungarian Horntail, and danced at the Yule Ball...

...we've wept at so much death -- James and Lily, Cedric, Sirius, Dumbledore, Mad-Eye, and Dobby -- and we know that there is more to come...

...we've whispered how we are up to no good, and how our mischief is managed...

...we knew before the Ministry of Magic would admit it -- You-Know-Who is back, and our lives will never be the same again...

...we've wrapped our fingers around the wood of our wands, marveling in our favorite spells and learning how to discover our own Patronus...

...we've fallen in love, had our heart's broken, and watched relationships bloom from silly children to young, intentioned adults.

We've grown with the Gryffindors.

And now...the end is fast approaching.

The boy who lived will live and die and live again.

And my childhood will slip into the sunset.

Harry Potter. Hermoine Granger. Ronald Weasley.

Seven books. Eight movies.

Seven years....

...with seven days to go.

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. ~Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

  2. @Qui: I am too. I'm so incredibly excited about that night, but I know that I am going to absolutely cry my eyes out. It's gonna be an emotional night.

@LeAhnna: You and me both! My excitement is unbounded.

  4. I am going to bawl my eyes out when I see it. I grew up with Harry and it's like he's dying!

  5. @R. Grace: I cried as I wrote this. It was just so close to my heart...uggghhh, Thursday is gonna be quite a day. =/

@Momma Too Many (I assume this is Nova, though): I never thought of it that way until you said it...although he isn't dying, really. He will live on forever in our hearts, as will Hogwarts, Dumbledore, Sirius, and all the others who stole our childhood away.

  6. I love Harry Potter so much. I can't wait to see the final movie, yet I'm so upset that it's all about to end and there's nothing I can do about it.
P.S I'm a proud Ravenclaw, and I have stuck with Harry since the beginning.

  7. I am so mixed about this movie! I'm DYING to see it, but when I watch it, it will all be over! Ahhhh. But I cling to the fact I can reread the books and movies a thousand times and never get tired of them, haha.

  8. @Liz and @Jessica: I KNOW! It's the end of the beginning, and the beginning of the end...and it's emotional. I feel like I'm going to a funeral and a birthday party at the same time.

I look at you and see all the ways a soul can bruise, and I wish I could sink my hands into your flesh and light lanterns along your spine so you know there's nothing but light when I see you. :: Shinji Moon
